In all the reading and viewing I've been doing lately concerning the presidential nominations, I've not seen anything about that lump on Sen. McCain's left jaw.
I've found out that around the year 2000 he had surgeries to remove multiple melanomas from the left side of his face, I've not been able to find what his current status is regarding his cancer.
This page says that a cancer on his temple was of a type that has a ten year survival rate of 60 or 70 percent!
Anybody have anything current on this? If the odds are against him surviving past the first year of a possible presidential term, shouldn't voters be aware of this?

I agree that a candidate's state of health is and should be an issue. However, the "lump" on the left side of his face is, I think, a result of his captivity during the war. It has been there as long as I've been aware of him, and I've followed politics for quite a while.

I found a rare photo of the left side of his face, and though there are differing opinions, most say this is the result of 3 different operations to remove cancerous growths from his face.
This page has a 1973 photo of him after his return from Viet Nam and there is no lump on the left side of his face.

I just read a few older accounts of McCain's injuries, and nothing was mentioned that might indicate that the bulge is war related. I am apparently wrong. -------- But I did find this, unrelated to injuries. -
In terms of both the larger conflict and his (McClain's)own personal experience in Vietnam, "They won the war but lost the peace."
Somebody better straighten him out. I've been told that Vietnam didn't win that war. Any volunteers?
(Actually, McClain doesn't understand that the war was about freeing Vietnam from being a colony. At least that's what they were fighting about. I'm sure that someone will tell me what we were fighting about.)
