Poll: Bush's unpopularity could hurt GOP candidates

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's continued unpopularity could present a challenge for Republican candidates in this fall's mid-term elections, according to a new CNN poll released Friday.

The poll results weren't all bad news for Bush. After his surprise visit to Baghdad, Americans were slightly less critical of his handling of the war in Iraq, but his overall job approval rating hasn't budged, the poll shows. - CNN

Someone paid for a poll to come to this conclusion? We kill the #1 enemy in Iraq, bush visits the troops (always good for a bump in the polls), and his primary sleaze, er, political strategist isn't going to be indicted, and his numbers are still under 40%. It doesn't matter which way you intend to vote, anyone not seeing that he could drag a great deal of Republicans up for re-election down doesn't know squat about US politics. (For those who really don't know squat about US politics, this isn't a rant about bush; it's a laughing look at pollsters.) This news rank right up there with Cakvin Coolidge's comment about unemployment.
