I agree Fred, I don't know what the statistics are on "glassings" in Britain.
A broken beer bottle or glass shoved into someone's face stops them in their tracks as effecively as a firearm. I think these were by far the majority of Saturday night assaults that colleagues and I attended at pubs and night clubs in the UK. Never seemed to be any witnesses though...
82 of the "detainees" who have been illegally imprisoned and tortured by the U.S. in Guantanamo Bay for the past 5 years have been "cleared" of any wrong-doing, yet they must wait months, possibly years longer before being released due to 'deportation problems':
'About a quarter of detainees who were cleared to leave Guantanamo Bay prison after hearings in 2005 and 2006 remain in custody, raising questions among inmates and their lawyers about the legitimacy of the system of hearings to review evidence against the prisoners.
The military's failure to release all of those who were cleared to leave - combined with the fact that dozens of other inmates who were not cleared have nonetheless been released - has led many inmates and their lawyers to contend that the system is a sham, and that the real decisions are being made elsewhere...'www.boston.com
