I wonder if this News Got onto the North Americans Sports pages
And I'm not a fan Of Lewis Hamilton the Formula 1 driver.
But The Barrage of Pure racial abuse he got from spectators while testing From Spaniards absolutely Horrified me. Eek I've seen and Heard racial abuse when I was younger but this was the worst I've ever seen in My life
The Sick senors (as a British NewsPaper aptly called them)have really excelled themselves this time Normally They Goad animals Or have sick ceremonies(involving animals) incliding Bullfighting or find some other form of Criminal activity such as rioting at soccer matches (Is Highly organized Frown)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7225523.stm

And another (about 800(and counting) similar on Google News)

BBC News report Video (Ignore the last few seconds OK? Stupid edit Frown)

That's too bad. And of course, a lot of this has to do with the tension between Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.
Many sports attract an element of yobs among their fans. British football, after all, hasn't been without it's problems.
However, in my opinion, the management of the Spanish circuit are partly responsible here. How did these people get into the circuit dressed like that? It serves Spain right if the FIA takes 2008's races elsewhere, and will send a clear message to Spanish spectators.

I personally like Lewis Hamilton. For someone so young, he seems very level headed, modest and extremely talented. Smile

You've been missing something Bedstor (me too)

Nobody in America has the faintest idea what Formula One is. Apparently they play around with Japanese saloons made in America (NASCAR= Nipponese American Sedan Car ) and they also have that thing which is like a whole series of races like the Indy 500, where the cars run around brickyards with banking (because American cars won't steer round bends) on something stronger than their petrol (not hard ,by all accounts their 'gas' is weaker than ours ) Big Grin It's said that their best Indy driver is a Scotsman (but then our press thinks that that kicker Tynes is a Scotsman!)

All very strange.

What's this about Spanish soccer fans rioting? Isn't it the Dutch that do that ?

While there won't be a Grand Prix in the US this year, there has been one for the past 6 or 7 years. The Canadian Grand prix in Montreal is one of the best supported races on the whole F1 circuit and has been running for about 40 years.

And didn't the US have Andretti ?
Besides, Gilles, not Jaques, Villeneuve was considered the real hero of Canadian F1, and he died in 1982. Jaques hasn't had much success since the late 90's.
I agree that in European terms, there isn't the same interest in F1 in the US. But there has been enough to stage races there in recent years.Smile
