There is a lot of violence at schools, and it seems the metal detectors and our security guards aren't working.
What do you guys think about this. I noticed a lot of schools are seperated into Pods. What if we not only search them, but we seperate them into the pods and just have them do all 6 periods into their own pods, give them 6 minutes to ge into their class. Have'em draw and line up for chow and do 75 to a 100 at a clip for chow.
You think thats far fetched...Give it 10 years.

what i meant was, run schools more like a prison. 6 minutes to get to your class, then the doors slide and lock. and at the center of each pod is a control room that controls the doors. have lunch at difrent times, each pod eats lunch at the same time. and have them wear uniforms. and only have 15 to 30 minutes of yardtime, excuse me, i mean "playtime" to associate with others. Have metal detectors and only have one way to get in and get out of the school. It really seems to me that it has come down to that.

In an age where school uniforms is a big debate? Where parents have joined their kids in disrespecting teacher authority and constantly question graddes? It's just not going to happen.

to be honest with you our school system has been broke for a long time. I would like uniforms in schools. What do you think about teachers being able to carry concealed weapons?

Maybe kids should just be home schooled. If a parent is not qualified, hire someone that is.
Ron, teachers carrying concealed weapons won't fix the problem.
There's a school here in Illinois that's on watch now because someone put a message on a bathroom mirror that says: 'This will be Virginia Tech in 5 days'.

as scary as that is honilov, school attacks never come with a warning. Neither do other terrorist, asasination attempts, or bomb threats. Sorry to say, but to maximize the kill rate it would always be best to never lead on to any kind of plan attack. I don't want to glorify Cho's actions at all, but he did it correct, you be quiet, and go for the attack.
I don't agree or glorify his actions at all, I think he's sick, disgusting, and mentally reatrded. I was just making a statement.

it's coming down to that frankvan, Schools aren't safe anymore. You know, I heard this thing from Chris Rock in one of his standups. He says, we don't need gun control, we need some bullet control. Each bullet should cost about $10,000, that way if someone gets killed you know he must have did something.

Most buildings at my school don't have metal detectors. Probably not at Virginia either. It would sure be a pain to put them at every doorway and have to go through them to get into every building. And then there's still tons of people walking around outside so I guess it wouldn't make a difference.

After several incidents at my old high school, i'm talking weapons dealings in the parking lot, gang activity, and bomb threats, all of which had no violent results. The district implemented a safety program where everyone at the school entered from the same 2 entrances, Front North Corridor and West side Entrance, both of which had metal detectors. They also ante'd up on the police presence from 2 patrolmen to 4 plus our original 3 campus security guards, Don't quote me on that, I can't remember for sure if it was 2 or 3 campus security.
I don't know if you guys had this at your schools, but we had a thing called ISS. In-School Suspension. When you broke a rule intense enough to warrant a suspension they gave you an option. ISS. They put you in a room all day and you couldn't leave, you basically sat there and did your school work and the room held up to 9 kids, it had no windows, and they brought lunch to you. Picture dentention but it lasts all day. It sucked.
The school I went to when I chose to show up. It had a very good disciplinary program. Nothing is failsafe, but if I chose to obey the law at that time it would have scared me straight. I never once in my school career ever carried a gun onto school property, it was always nearby, but you're at school to learn, so I always felt you should have that opportunity to want to learn and feel safe doing so. Not everybody is the same. I always respected that about students. Everyone is there to follow a difrent path.
