Though somebody had asked these. But found no trace.

In your country what Notice to you have to give if you are leaving a job?

What paperwork do you need to start work Besides telling your New employer your Social Security number?

What is the Notice Period by law given if you are in line to be made redundant?

And How many years service do you need to qualify for a redundancy payment?

What is the amount levied? Say 1 weeks pay per year?

1. Depends on your contract. Minimum after probation has passed (usually 6 months) is one month notice from both sides.

2. a P45. It's a certificate giving details of your tax allowances etc.

3. One month if they just let you go; 6 weeks if it is a round of redundancies ( ie, plant closing, massive lay-offs due to economic downturn etc).

4. One year (you get half a week's pay for every year worked per law, but most companies give more, usually 3-4 weeks per completed year of service).

The Uk rules as I know them are:
1 It's 1 week verbal, a months written notice
up to I think 2 years service then a week is added (per year worked up to a maximum of(a guess) 3 months notice that's 12 years service

2: Like Silja I need a P45 (Never knew that was the same in Ireland?) to start work otherwise the tax deductions will be wrong Mad
If you have not got one then your National Insurance Number ( Social security Number number in the US) will do but again the Tax codes will be out of order for a week or 2

3: The period is 90 days notice though if you are laid off before the end of the period the the employer must pay you for the unworked days or weeks on top of the Redundancy Payment

4: Have to work 2 years to qualify for payments. And be aged 21
Not 100% certain on this age thing. I was aged 20 when I got redundancy and qualified through service worked Confused

5: See first part of 4: Payment is then 1 weeks flat rate wages for every year worked
