Hi! I want to get a rabbit, and I read that they can be housed with guinea pigs. But, can you put a male rabbit with a female guinea pig, or vice versa? I've also thought about just getting one rabbit, or one guinea pig. Which do you think is best.... get a rabbit and guinea pig, just a rabbit, or just a guinea pig? Also, if I did get a rabbit and guinea pig, what's a good size cage to have for them? Sometimes books are not thorough enough. Thank you!

I also have 2 polls up in the Poll section. Be sure to answer them if you're able to!

Both rabbits and guinea pigs need company, but preferably of their own kind. A rabbit will be much happier with a companion of his own species, and the same goes for the guinea pig. Contrary to popular opinion, rabbits and guinea pigs do not make ideal cage mates. Although some rabbit/guinea-pig pairs can get on well, many more end in disaster, often with injuries to one or both animals.
This website advises that "Guinea pigs should not be kept with rabbits as even a small rabbit can deliver an unintentional swift, hard kick with its hind legs and easily injure a guinea pig."
