Hi! I have a couple more questions about hamsters: In the books, it tells how to tell if a hamster is a male or a female. This method (male=elongated rear end, female=more blunt rear end) is pretty easy to use on Syrian hamsters...but, how about on a Dwarf hamster? Is the method the same? The Dwarf hamsters are just so small...they look all one size from front to back. My second question is about putting hamsters in the same cage. I have heard to not put a male with another male, or a female with another female...or something like that. What are the rules? I will appreciate any answers I get. Thank you!

Syrian (Golden) Hamsters should be kept one per single cage, Syrian hamsters will start to fight at 5 to 6 weeks old. Dwarf Hamsters (Russian or Chinese) can be kept together either in, single sex pairs or colonies, although some might fight and will have to separated.
