Hi! I was wondering something about cages. There are not any suitable rabbit or guinea pig cages in my area. I was thinking of just getting a dog kennel, instead. I mean, it would be big enough and everything. Then, I thought about the differences in the wiring. Dog kennels are that dark colored, rusty-feeling wire. Cages that are for small pets are that smooth wiring. Does anyone know if it'd be okay to have a rabbit or guinea pig in a dog kennel, or would it do better in a small pet cage? I don't know where I'd find a suitable small pet cage, but..... If you know an answer, please reply! Thank you!

Hi Trinity, We kept out guinea pig in the largest, tall clear plastic, Rubbermade type storage box that we could find. These storage boxes are reasonably priced at Walmart and other discount stores. Our piggy was able to jump out in his younger days so we had to fashion a screen type top to keep him from leaping out.

Hi Trinity, Washing that giant rubbermaid box was easy, it was light and fit right in the bathtub, though we would hose it down outside when the weather permited. "Spammy" must have liked his box, he lived a long life of 9 years. We also let him have regular playtime out of the box on the floor, supervised only of course!

Wow...9 years? That's a long time. I'm glad you let him play, supervised, on the floor. That's good. I know those Tupperware containers are light and everything...I just thought it might be kind of awkward to wash, since it was kind of big.
