I finally convinced my husband that we need a small furry animal (on top of our 2 fish tanks and 2 cats) I've decided on gerbils, but I need to find out more about them. Any tips fro gerbil owners, or good websites?

I am especially wanting to know:
- we only want one enclosure. How many gerbils is it best to get, and should we get males or females (we don't want babies)?
- Some people seem to prefer to keep them in fish tanks, some in cages. Which do you think is better?
- Are there any varieties (long hair, curly hair etc) which are better/ very delicate?

Out of all of the various rodents my kids had over the years, I got the biggest kick out of the gerbils. They have SUCH personalities!
