1 16oz. can chili with beans
9 slices bread
2 tbs. butter
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. salt

Spread one side of 6 slices of bread with butter.
In a 12"x7 1/2" baking pan, arrange bread slices buttered side down in a single layer.

Spoon chili over bread; sprinkle with grated cheese.

Cut remaining 3 slice of bread in half diagonally. Arrange bread slices on top of chili.

Beat eggs in a medium bowl. Add milk and salt, stir.

Pour egg mixture over sandwiches.

Refrigerate for 1 hour- no longer!.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Bake until puffed and golden brown 45 min. to 1 hour.

With spatula, cut between bottom bread siced and serve.
