My dad knows about converting vinyl to CD so I asked him. He said you need a pre-amp to turn your turntable into and software like Steinberg Pinnacle (that's what he uses.) He suggested looking here for more. And here's some more information on the software to convert stuff to CD. Hope that helped some.

Boy that Steinberg software - it's expensive and takes a deal of study to learn how to use. I think with a USB pre-amp from Radio Shack & the free version of MusicMatch it could be done by the casual computer user, although the resulting WAV files would still have the rumble, clicks & pops of the LP.
Personally I use Steinberg/Pinnacle Clean.
