I like TV earphones because I have a hearing problem. I have bought two or three of the cheaper ones, but they won't work. I suspect it's because my laptop is on, and nearby.
If this is true, is there a fix for it? A filter or something?

Mine work, and the computer is close to the TV. I use the cheap ($1) headphones, too. Sometimes, the connections just isn't quite right, and I have to move the plug around a bit.

Dorian, are you talking about the plug on the part that goes atop the TV and sends the signal? I'll wiggle that and see what happens, but...
I paid $30 for each of the two sets I have. They did work at one time but won't now. Have changed the batteries, adjusted the direct line, etc., but nothing helps.

It sounds as if you have wireless. Mine are cheap wired models, with a cord about 28-30". (I have to remember to remove the headset when I get up, something I don't always do.)
