when it comes to electronics, I am, shall we say, not very well equipped!!! I have my stereo system in my living room and my house is pretty well spread wide (it's one story, but spread out). I've heard that you can put wireless speakers in other rooms so that you can hear it throughout the house.
My question - - are there special wireless speakers based on the kind/brand of stereo you have? And a simplier question - - how the heck do these things work if they are wireless? How do they know what to project?
Most better quality wireless speakers will work with any pre amp or receiver. Wireless speakers consist of two units, a broadcast and a receiver. A line level out (tape out for example) is supplied to the broadcast unit and it will sit next to your receiver or pre amp. The wireless receiver and it's speakers will go into the room of your choice. The signal is broadcast usually in the UHF band to the wireless receiver and in turn is amplified and will drive the speakers to the volume level you set on the speakers. Most wireless speakers don't have the sonic quality of hard wired speakers but this is something that you will have to decide for yourself.
