I have a cassette tape that has become torn. Is there a way to repair this? I don't mind a little 'skip' in the audio.

DG...I have repaired torn tapes many times and while my method may not be a professional one is surely does work.

What I do is pull out the ends from both sides of the broken tape. Then I use scissors to cut off any twisted or pulled tape, leaving straight cut ends to work with. Then, I simply use a piece of clear adhesive tape (Scotch tape) and tape the 2 ends together making sure they meet edge to edge (also making sure that you tape side A to side A Wink). Finally, using small scissors, cut the edge of the adhesive tape to meet the edge of cassette tape.

You very well might here a slight skip when playing it back but if your lucky, the tear might have happened in a section where you may not notice a skip.

I've been using this method for over 20 years and so far, repaired tapes have never come undone.

Thanks, Georgia. I was hoping it was that simple, but I wasn't sure. For answering this, you get to open the first present at the AnswerPool Christmas Party.
