Are you wanting to know how to determine how many credit hours a particular class is worth? That is, should it be a 2 credit class or a 5 credit class?

As a professor in a local community college, credit hours are determined by the amount of time spent in class or lab. For example, if one teaches a three credit course at our (and most) colleges, students attend class twice a week for one and a quarter hours. That totals two and a half hours for a three credit course.
Some of our classes are considered four credits which adds another 50 minute period during the week...
So, credit hours are determined by the amount of time a student spends in the classroom or lab...
Hope this was helpful...
