I just bought a pair of the sneaker style golf shoes and although they're guaranteed water proof I'd like to see if anyone knows if the spray on stuff sold in shoe stores for waterproofing and stain repelling actually works.

I once worked in a shoe store and to advertise our waterproofing spray, we would spray a canvas shoe wait five minutes then pour Pepsi over it. The pop would bead up and roll off. I can't remember what brand it was, but I just saw it at Wal-mart.
