Can smoke/soot odors from a house fire be laundered out of stuffed animals?

Stuffed critters need to be dry cleaned.

Washing them in a machine will lead to too much water in their stuffing - tumble dry will result in the stuffing matting and becoming balls inside the critter. besides which most often the fur/skin is a material that doesn't do water very well.
