Does anyone know how well the at home dry cleaning kits work? I have some drapes that need cleaning and thought I might give this a go??? Thanks!

I have used it and I liked how it worked.

I also just bought a Fabric Freshener by Whirlpool that I saw discussed on the 2005 Bath and Kitchen Show.

I can't wait to see how it works, but I am looking forward to no more dry cleaning for the most part.

All I can tell you is that my wife tried it and didn't like it. We still take everything to the dry-cleaners.

Haven't drycleaned a thing for years, since our last dry-cleanable things wore out. My brother made some pretty good money buying failing dry-cleaning businesses, then renovating the equipment and improving service, and then selling them for bigger bucks. He put an end to using dry cleaning for me when he told me that the biggest improvement they made, in order to build a faithful clientele in each business, was to replace cleaning fluid more frequently.

To save money, lots of cleaners use the fluid until it's really filthy and dark. This will darken light fabrics: they are literally stained with other people's dirt. In cases like that, all the cleaner has done is spot the clothes, run it through the cleaning cycle to redistribute the dirt, then press them and bag them so that you take some new chemicals into your home when you open the bag.

So now, unless it's washable I don't buy it.
