Please bear (no pun intended) with me because this is hard to explain:

I have a whirlpool gas stove that is only 3 years old. It has blackened stains around the burners (the white part around the burner) that won't come off. I don't want to scratch the surface but a regular sponge won't get it off. The burner metal covers have a special non stick material on them that is supposed to easily wipe off. Those are stained too. I have tried putting them in the dishwasher but they still have stuff on them. How do I make my stove look close to new again without scratching it? I do try to wipe off the stove everytime I use it. (I'm not the only one here using it) The rest of the stove is bright white and looks brand new. What is going to clean the burner part of the stove? (the stove top and the non stick burner covers)

Clare...There are some very good cleansers out there which are non-abrasive. Try putting some of the cleanser on the stains and letting it sit for a few minutes, to soften it, and then using a scouring pad (also non-abrasive), you should be able to get those stains off.

And tell you what clare....I had a white gas range also. I once got some very stubborn burn-type marks under the burner, and eventually tried a brillo pad - just didn't press down. And it did the trick and did not scratch the cooktop.

Good Luck my friend! Cool

Hey Clare, I too have a white gas range and have the same problem. I bought some smooth rangetop cleanser at Sears (I think it's made by Kenmore) and you can purchase it right in the same section as the appliances. It's specifically made for white ranges. They do have a powder, but I find the bottle of paste/liquid works best. I tried to find the product online, but I didn't have any luck.

I went out today and bought a Whirlpool rangetop cleaner for my stove. That stuff is AMAZING! I cleaned the stove top and the little burner tops and it looks brand new again. The removable burners covers are about 75% clean. That is taking a some work. (They were really bad) It does come off though just a little at a time. I let the stuff soak and I'm using a non abrasive scrub pad. It still isn't all the way off but I'm gonna work on it.

It really really worked!!!!!!

Thank you so much Giz and Lydia!!!!!!!!!!!!!
