Clare...There are some very good cleansers out there which are non-abrasive. Try putting some of the cleanser on the stains and letting it sit for a few minutes, to soften it, and then using a scouring pad (also non-abrasive), you should be able to get those stains off. And tell you what clare....I had a white gas range also. I once got some very stubborn burn-type marks under the burner, and eventually tried a brillo pad - just didn't press down. And it did the trick and did not scratch the cooktop. Good Luck my friend!

I went out today and bought a Whirlpool rangetop cleaner for my stove. That stuff is AMAZING! I cleaned the stove top and the little burner tops and it looks brand new again. The removable burners covers are about 75% clean. That is taking a some work. (They were really bad) It does come off though just a little at a time. I let the stuff soak and I'm using a non abrasive scrub pad. It still isn't all the way off but I'm gonna work on it. It really really worked!!!!!! Thank you so much Giz and Lydia!!!!!!!!!!!!! :kiss :kiss
