I'd like to know if anyone has any first-hand opinions on any of the "As Seen On Tv" products.

If you have bought any of those items, would you please share with the rest of us, the pros and cons that you've discovered?

Who knows whether your experience will help me and others decide to buy or not buy.

Thanx in advance!

GOD BLESS!!!

I have only bought one as seen on tv product.
I'm not sure what it was called, but it was a pencil like thing that was supposed to remove scratches from glasses.
You were supposed to cover the entire lens with this black pencil (almost like eyeliner)and then rub it off. I guess it was supposed to fill in the scratches.
It didn't. Not even the little ones.
At least it didn't cost a fortune. I was only out $10.00.

Don't ever buy the Ron Popiel Pasta Maker. It is the machine that is supposed to mix the dough and make the pasta for you. It is a piece of junk. It never ever worked for us and they refused to give us our money back. Mad I don't remember the price but it wasn't cheap. Needless to say, I refuse to endorse Popiel Inc. ever again. They can go to- well you get the idea...

Just because it was an "As seen on TV" product, it doesn't mean it will be worth a darn. Ask around first. See if you know someone who has ever bought the product you may be interested in. Or, ask here. Maybe somebody here has. But always research the product first and do the pro's/con's thing. Especially if the item is costly.

If you wait a while Wal Mart usually carries those tv items.
Hey, that way if they don't work, you can just bring it back.

I tried that small paint roller that goes around door frames, etc. It didn't work for me, I brought it back. Smile

We bought a "Kitchen Magic Chopper Plus" - "As seen on TV" - last year at the State Fair for $6.
It actually works really well!
Cleaning it is a bit tricky, but I'd say it's worth it if you have a lot of chopping to do.

This month's Reader's Digest has a great review of these products. The only one that got 4 stars was:

Showtime Rotisserie Oven $129. Works well.

Flip Fold: $36, although I could swear I've seen it for $20. Worked very well except with long sleeves. The fact that kids 3-4 can (and love to) use it makes it worth the money. Four stars.

Ding King $36 Worked well, but you have to glue it to your car, so beware of your paint job. 3-1/4 stars.

Gazelle Freestyle Elite exercising machine $414. That loud-mouthed idiot Tony Little who sells a lot of this stuff on TV including "OXY-CLEAN!!!! touts this one. Got 3-1/2 stars.

Ultimate Chopper $74.85 They tried this on brick chipsfor Pete's sake, no wonder it only got 2 stars. Also, the instructions say to chop everything into one inch pieces before putting it in the little machine. And it costs $75? I've seen it for $20 but this is the price RD quoted.

In my personal experience: don't buy one of those curly water hoses. They're a lot more cumbersome and difficult to deal with than they look, and don't put out much water. Some leak. Didn't get a single star from RD.

We have had excellent use of a Ginsu knife. Works great for years as a bread slicer, etc. I've never tried cutting tin cans with it like the guy on the infomercials does though. Smile

I want to know how well the Thunder Stick works, it's a hand held blender/mixer that has so many rpm's that it will make coffee into a frothy delight (so says the ad)
Also wanted to buy the new mini hair trimmer looks like a pencil, used to shape eyebrows and get rid of unwanted hair. ????? Confused Wink

I am rather interested in that pencil thing, too, kitty. Looks like it works well, but we all know what that means!

The only TV Product I've ever bought was the Turbo Cooker, but I bought it at Target many months after it came out. I, however, love it and use it all the time!

Thank you to everyone who has responded to this topic. I'd rather learn from others' experience than stumble my way through trial and error.

I found this site awhile ago: http://krbctv.com/diw/index.htm
Check it out for some more "Does It WorK" items.

Please continue to post your own personal experiences with any item, whether to warn about or praise a product.

Thanks!

GOD BLESS!!!

i bought that product that lets you clean your silver (a tray and baking soda). it works really really well.
also bought some of the 'as seen on tv' epil stop citrus stuff (for getting rid of hair...i hate shaving). it works pretty well, except its messy, but its better than shaving anyday.

We got Quick N Brite. It was such a loser product. I loved the smell and that it was organic... but it really didn't clean anything like it was supposed to. It didnt really dissolve in water to make the "spray solution" either.

I'll stick with my harsh toxic chemical cleaners for now, thanks.

Moving Men disks really work. I moved my entire living room around with them. You put them under anything and it rolls with ease.

Oxyclean didn't work. Of course it did make the Hanes red logo on the socks turn the entire load of laundry pink.

My local news station did a segment on the Perfect Pancake pan. (Fame or Shame) They had five different people try it out along with some of the newscasters. It really did make a perfect pancake.

We bought a set of knives that are advertised on TV a lot. This was a year and a half ago and they are still as sharp as ever.

We also bought one of those hand-held sewing machines. The needles that came with it are so dull I have my doubts that they would penetrate hot butter.

We tried ZAP - the everything cleaner! It did indeed take the tarnish off a very old button, as well as the rest of the finish. It didn't do a whole lot to clean soap scum out of the shower. It also "zapped" the shine off the bathroom floor. I wonder if it does nail polish? Has anyone tried the window cleaner that you hook up to the garden hose and blast the dirt away? I can't remember the product name. ZAP gets maybe one star and only set me back about 10 bucks.

HEY when I saw you were from st jo I had to respond to this ..............i am from maryville what a cool coinkydink huh. the only thing that ihave ever bought like that has been those orange clean wipes and I have to say they are terrific. They are a little pricey but they are well worth it. I keep a container in the bath and kitchen and just pop one out when I need to do a quick cleaning. ONe side is smooth and the other is rough for scrubbing I would highly recommend them. Once again very cool to make your acquaintance, I hope we can talk more in the future.

I have the rotisserie and love it....
I also have the little stick hair remover thing and love it too, but haven't tried it on eyebrows...not that brave.

I have used the Showtime Rotisserie for a couple of years. It is easy to clean--came with heat-proof gloves, kitchen twine, elastic meat holders.
I also have the double spatula that can be used as a whisk, a pancake turner, pasta server. I could not use it with pasta. It works sometimes but is too light to hold much weight.
I really enjoyed the comments on the "tv products".

Jane, I LOVE your name! Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

I can't remember the product name, but you remember a few years ago when this vaccuum pressure washer thing came out? It looked like a garbage can sized egg, you screwed the lid off, put in the stuff and the water and the clothes and it was supposed to use pressure to clean the clothing? You cranked it and it went around in top to bottom circles (like a water wheel).

That was a major piece of crap and worked not at all and created a big mess to boot. Wish I could recall the name of it.
