Ever since I de-frosted my fridge last week (by turning the electricity off and leaving the door open over night) there is a strange smell from it. There is no gone-off food in it. Any ideas what it could be and what I can do about it?

I'm not sure why this happened.

To get rid of the smell, try wiping the whole thing out with a bleach solution, rinsing well, and put in a container of baking soda.

Hope it helps,

It could be a number of things. My guess would be mold or mildew. The best way to see if that is it... is to use white vinegar full strength on a dish cloth and wipe it out. The vinegar will not leave a smell. The vinegar smell will go away shortly. If it was mold or mildew, that smell will also be gone.

BBQ briquettes (charcoal) absorb odors pretty quickly. Put a few of them in a bowl and set it on a shelf.

You can also pour a little vanilla extract on a cotton ball and leave that in the fridge.

Make sure you clean the drain pan under the fridge. (That could be where the smell is coming from)
