Can I recycle the plastic bags from the grocery store? I used to get everything bagged in paper bags but now I get these cheap plastic bags that rip and get thrown away. I do reuse them for various things but once they are torn they end up in the trash. They don't even have a recycle code on them.

Our Publix has a bin out front that takes plastic bags. I don't think the recycling people take plastic bags though (at least I've never heard about it).

Like Jusork, I don't know if recycling plants take plastic bags - I guess that depends on the plant.
But a lot of supermarkets have bins to return both paper and plastic bags! Smile
Chack for a bin whenever you go shopping.

Over here in the UK recycling has virtually taken over our lives.
There are bins for everything, drinks cans, plastic bottles, glass, (all colours) newspapers, shoes, clothes, oil and just recently ,plastic bags.
This probably evolved from the fact that everyone was taking their bottles to the bins in plastic bags and then just dumping the bags on the floor!
We have had bins at home now for newspapers for about 5 years and they are doing a trial in my area for bins for glass.
I'm sure plastic bag bins will catch on all over. It's mainly the supermarkets that have them at the moment.
