has anyone ever removed covers from cushions on chairs/couches and washed them? The ones I have zip right off and it says they are able to be washed, but I'm a bit aprehensive!! They're only a heavy weight cotton - - cream background with light colors.....

I'm nervous that they may shrink or something. They're not really dirty, just thought a cleaning would be a good idea.

Wondering if anyone has ever done it, what you used to wash and how they turned out...

Thanks! big grin

Lydia, when I used to have a fabric couch, I regularly removed the covers and washed.

I was always careful to use cold water only and delicate cycle, and dry on medium or let air dry. I also used a gentle detergent.

Might even be safer to wash with something like Woolite in the sink.

I only experienced problems as the couch got older and the foam rubber began to deteriorate, making it harder to get the covers off and on. I considered going out and getting new foam rubber, but by that time the couch was so old I didn't bother.

thanks - - it's still relatively new so I'm not concerned about getting them back on. It's just that they're so light, I thought a washing would be a good idea.....

I'll give it a shot -- MAYBE tomorrow!!!

throw a plastic bag over the foam cushion before putting on the cover, then rip it out before you zip up, makes slipping the covers on much much easier.

Having a couch with 14 cushions with removable covers I had to find a way to get the dang things back on more easily.
