we have the option to buy a washer and dryer in one machine. are such creatures worth the money and are they efficient? i don´t mean one of these models where the washer is on the bottom and the dryer is seperate on top. it´s a front load washer/dryer in one. it´s only slightly more expensive than a washing machine alone. any info?
Of course, I have never been fond of front loading washing machines. They tend to start leaking around the door and while the use less water then a top loader, I feel that this is a disadvantage, especially on the rinse cycle. WoW needs good rinsing as any soap residue bothers my skin.
The "Over-Under" is a great machine where you do not have room for a side by side, but if I have the room, I would opt for the side be side.

The concept doesn't make much sense to me.....unless you are extremely limited on space. You can only do one load (and one thing) at a time - you're either washing OR drying - can't do both. The other downside - - what happens when one goes? they both go - then you have to replace the whole thing and not just one unit or the other.
They are a repairmens nighmare and your pocketbook Waterloo.... I cannot believe they are still making them...Years ago I had a couple Appliance stores, and we would refuse anything to do with them....

I have a top loader washer with dryer on top. It is great on space since I don't have an actual laundry room or basement. It is in my utility room and fits perfectly. I can have a load washing and a load drying at the same time. I have been lucky and haven't had any problems.
