My dad got some olive oil on his Docker Pants, they are 100% cotton in a light denim color. I used Shout, but it didn't get it all out, there is still a faint stain. Any secrets? Thanks.

This is what I use on fresh stains, but maybe it can help on an old stain if it hasn't been overheated in very hot water, a dryer or with an iron yet.

I wet the spot with cool water and rub Ivory bar soap right into the spot. I do this on both sides of the fabric. Then I wash in lukewarm water as usual.

I agree with babthrower on the setting issue - - if you've already put in the dryer or ironed - fahgetaboutit.....but if not - - try the ivory (I find ivory gets out alot!!).

If that does not work - - let the spot dry again (this will work best if the pands are dry) and use a dish detergent (this is formulated specifically to remove grease). Let this sit for about 10 - 15 minutes. About halfway through - take a stiff brush and just hit it - kind of bang the bristles onto the fabric (do not rub).....then wash in your regular wash on warm (or even hot).....

After this - do not dry them in the dryer or iron - let them air dry to see if the stain has been removed. Once you put them in the dryer - - you're done.....whether the stain is out or not....so air dry till you know it's gone.....

If it didn't work the first time - - repeat...it will go away...

We enjoy lots of Greek foods in our house, so olive oil stains are very common. I found that an all purpose cleaner called "greased lightening"
works well on oil set in stains that have been washed and dried several times.

That product has helped me move some clothes from the "rag bag" back into the closet.

I will have to try the Dawn I love it when doing dishes and cleaning stove. But I have never tried it in the laundry. I tend to use Shout and wash it more than once if needed. I may have to try the Ivory also. I have never seen the greased lighting but I will look for it. smile
