Last time I used my iron I used hemming tape and some of the sticky stuff got on the bottom of the iron...I have tried to scrub it off, but it seems to linger, what can I use that won't damage the teflon on the iron?

I don't know what might work, but I think I would try some solvent like GoofOff, and I'd try it, and anything else, on a piece of the hemming tape before I tried it on the iron soleplate, although I doubt it could harm the teflon.

When I was a teen, there was a product that my mom bought that would clean the surface of the iron - my dad was in the Navy and we used ALOT of starch, so the iron had to be cleaned regularly.

For the life of me, I cannot recall the name, but it came in a tube and was located right there in the laundry aisle of the store Confused I'll try to remember the name, cause it worked like a dream!

How's this?
quote:
I use the product called Cerama Bryte to clean fusible web from the soleplate of my cold iron. The product is made for cleaning glass and ceramic cooktops, which is how I discovered it -- I received a complimentary sample with my new stove.

I have since purchased a big, 24-ounce bottle for a just a little more than the cost of a small tube of iron cleaner. I use it for all kinds of cleaning. Cerama Bryte is available in hardware stores and appliance stores, or online at www.ceramabryte.com/
