Could some one tell me how to get the baked on crud off of my SS skillet with an Aluminum base? I'm afraid to use some thing to strong like oven cleaner because of the aluminum. I'm talking about the almost brown almost black stuff. Thanks !!! ahead

I have found that SOS pads are about the best. BUT, oven cleaner will not hurt aluminum pans if we are just talking about the outside of the pan. If an SOS pad (Steel wool) does not work, try the oven cleaner. Just make sure that you do it in a well ventilated area because of the fumes. You can also try a product called "Simply Green" It can be found at Wal-mart.

That brown and black crud is baked-on grease. Have you had the pan in the dishwasher lately? SOS pads will get it off, but it takes a lot of scrubbing. Turn the pan over and cover the bottom with full-strength Cascade first. Allow to dry, then rinse off. That should soften it for you.

Catty (who is contemplating taking future baths in Cascade) roll eyes eek big grin
