I have been searching for an answer all evening and I think I found one. quote: Wood Furniture - Nail Polish Do not apply nail polish remover to the stain; it will quickly damage finish. Instead, soften the nail polish by rubbing it with a cloth saturated in mineral spirits.
CAUTION: Dry-cleaning spot remover and mineral spirits are poisonous and flammable. Follow caution on labels. Use in well-ventilated area. Do not use near flame, spark, or pilot light. Do not smoke. Do not get on skin or clothing. If the finish is hard, apply paste wax with fine 0000 steel wool in the direction of the grain. Apply a small amount of oil to an oil finish.

Yikes! Yep def don't use polish remover. I made the mistake of doing that when I was younger and totally ruined the shellac finish on my mother's cherry wood end table Don't know what kind of finish you have...or if your wood even has a finish on it. But if it is nitrocellulose lacquer then nail polish remover won't harm it if you use a small amount and remove it quickly. If Sher's suggestion does not work...and if your table has a veneer finish, you can use a dampened brillo pad. Using small, circular motions will remove the polish. Then you just wipe the residue off. BUT you cannot use this method on real wood. Good luck!
