Fret no more, your problems have been solved! Simply take an old nylon stocking, slip it over the extension hose on a vaccuum cleaner, and hold onto the stocking. Guide the hose down the vent, to where you assume the earing is. Then turn on your vaccuum. The earing will be sucked up by the vaccuum, but you will not have to rummage through the bag to find your precious earing!
*note: remember to keep the vaccuum running until the hose is completely out of the vent!
**secondary note: This can also be used to find things on a carpet..such as a dropped contact lens, those tiny little glass beads used in fine beadwork, or anything small that you don't want to lose in a bag of dirt and dust inside your vaccuum. This trick works wonders!
