recipe: desserts
sautéed bananas with praline sauce

desserts | This caramel-nut sauce is not only divine over sautéed bananas, but it's also delicious drizzled over frozen yogurt or angel food cake.

Ingredients

5 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
3 tbsp fat-free skim milk
3 tbsp chopped pecans
1 serving cooking spray (5 one-second sprays per serving)
4 large banana(s), peeled, halved lengthwise and then crosswise

Instructions

Combine maple syrup, milk and pecans in a small saucepan; set pan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the mixture thickens and reduces to about 1/3 cup, about 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and set pan over medium-high heat. Add bananas (make sure to slice them just before cooking to prevent discoloration) and sauté until golden brown, about 1 minute per side.

Transfer bananas to dessert plates and spoon praline sauce over top. Yields 1 banana and about 1 1/2 tablespoons of sauce per serving.
