Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cake

Prep. 9x13 baking dish with veg. spray.

1 pkg. devil's food cake
1 can(21 oz) Cherry pie filling
2 large eggs
1 tsp. pure almond extract

Pour all ingredients in a large bowl and mix 3 minutes scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Batter should look thick and well blended. Pour into preped pan smoothing top with spatula. Bake 350 until springs back when lightly pressed with finger and just starts to pull away from sides of the pan.(30-35 min)

Glaze:
1 1/2 cup Confectioners sugar
2 Tbs corn syrup
6-8 tsp water
1/2 cup toasted almonds

Mix sugar and syrup add water 1 tsp at a time until you have a med. thick drizzle consistancy. With a skewer or chop stick poke holes in warm cake and drizzle with glaze. Sprinkle with toasted almonds.
