There are really good protein shakes you can make of protein powder and fruit/juice/ice blendings.

Banana/strawberries/cherry juice + Protein powder

Any combination of fruit and juice she likes would work well. Smile

When I had my tonsils out I lived off of Popsicles for the first few days but then graduated to mashed potatoes, peas, apple sauce, and other soft and easy to swallow foods. The worst part is the swallowing because it feels like there is a piece of glass under the base of the tongue when you swallow. And for the first week or so, due to the swelling, it might take 2 or 3 swallowing attempts to actually be able to swallow. So soft foods are a necessity. I wish her a speedy recovery Smile

I had my tonsils taken out when I was 6. I remember eating pudding, jello, icecream, applesauce, and chicken, vegetable and beef broths.

Make sure she drinks plenty of fluids. About 3 oz. an hour. By keeping the throat moist, it decreases discomfort and helps prevent dehydration.
