Levon, I love that song! It is so beautiful. This is the problem. Elton doesn't do nonsense lyrics. I don't understand the full meaning of the song. Why was Levon born on Dec 25 when the NY Times said, "God is dead." What does that mean? I get some of it. Levon's father and Levon himself get renamed. The father is describing hope when he had very little. Another (Levon) is to be the good son and take over the family business making him Jesus(?) Levon didn't thrive on it over time. Am I screwing this up or did they just do too many drugs when this song was written. Even if I don't get it and a lot don't, the song is fantastic.
