One for US members, this. I am visiting the US shortly and have adaptors for electrical appliances to convert them to the two-bladed connectors for the traditional US sockets. I read that newer sockets have either two blade-holes of unequal size, or a third pin as a ground connection, as shown here.

How widespread are the newer sockets (California hotels)? Should I look for adaptors to fit them, or will my "two equal blade" adaptors still work?

As a last resort, do you still use screw fitting light bulbs? I have an adaptor to fit those.

They are very widespread, but the old style plugs fit into the 'new' style outlets. I believe the newer outlets have been around for quite a while, but that may just be my young age showing Wink

Thank you, methos, and for such a prompt reply.

You were three when I made my only visit to the States to date! I hadn't given the sockets a thought since - but that may just be my old age showing Smile
