An American pen friend (that I met on AskJeeves) is coming to visit, and wants to know if her digital cell phone will work normally in Canada.
I don't have one so I don't know.
She asks if there are any special rules for international calls, or does she just dial as she would any long-distance call she places on a cellular phone within the U.S.
Also, any money-saving tips for international cel phone calling?
Hope some savvy travellers out there can help.

My cell phone worked in BC until I got out of range... so in Vancouver it worked well and on the main road, but when I got up in the ski area it didn't work or was spotty at best. I don't know what type of cell phone she has or what the package is, but I recommend that she calls her provider to get the information before making any calls... it could be an enormous charge depending on the plan or it could be the same as out of state charges. Most phones do work in Canada if that helps any.

Thanks, Aminator. Cingular told her it would cost .69 a minute!
I think she just wants feedback not only from her provider but also from people who have been there done that. Which you have. So I'll forward your answer.
And thank you!
And congratulations on being EOM!
