We moved to western Washington recently and are thinking of a trip to Alaska. I've read about riding the ferry from Bellingham, WA, through the Inside Passage to Alaska. Not sure if we'd take our car or rent one later. I've looked at some websites and they all make it sound glorious. I'd like to know from someone who's done it. We're 62 and enjoy our comforts, so we don't want to camp out on the deck like some young folks do. Thanks.

I have done the "Ferry" (1983) and can highly recommend it. I had a great time and I did take my car along. I drove from Haines, AK to Anchorage. The total trip took about 4-days and I enjoyed it a lot. I traveled in March and the weather was good; clear and cold. I can image that it would be fun in the summer, too. I've got to tell you, I think that Alaska in June is about as close as we humans will get to heaven on earth. But in January... Dwight
