I've heard that there is a small State in America (which is represented by a star on the flag) which has refused to progress

or get the nature destroyed

by the developments such as roads, electricity etcetera.
Which State is it?

I would be obliged if you could tell me further... confused

The only state I can think of with a single star on the flag is Texas. It's definitely NOT a small state (it's one of the biggest) and it's definitely not refusing progress.

I don't think there are any states like that, since there are federal projects that affect all states.

Actually, you might be referring to the 50 th , and largest of our states, Alaska....It also has a star in its flag, and is very limited to the amount of roads and expansion of towns and etc...but, that is only so because of its terrain...It is extremly mountainous;very bitterly cold in the winter; and most of the land is only accessable by airplane....It by no means has refused progress, as I have stated , it is naturally limited in what can be done...

Alaska's state flag has the big dipper and the north star (total of 8 stars, I think). Their state theme song starts "8 stars of gold on a field of blue..."

Where is Dwight when you need him?

Alaska can be a beautiful place. It is because of this remoteness that has kept clean and pure, if you will.

May be Dwight can tell us about Anchorage. Just a small town on the bay.

These sites will tell you more than I ever could...

More on Alaska

And more...

State Song:

Eight stars of gold on a field of blue,
Alaska’s flag, may it mean to you,
The blue of the sea, the evening sky,
The mountain lakes and the flowers nearby,
The gold of the early sourdough’s dreams,
The precious gold of the hills and streams,
The brilliant stars in the northern sky,
The "Bear," the "Dipper," and shining high,
The great North Star with its steady light,
O’er land and sea a beacon bright,
Alaska’s flag to Alaskans dear,
The simple flag of a last frontier.

Dwight

To preserve the beauty, there are no billboards. We also have no Interstate road system. We have 5 "big roads", 2 lane ones that connect larger towns and they all dead end. Only the AlCan (Alaska-Canada) Highway continues into Yukon Territory and does not dead end. The Taylor Highway also goes to the Yukon but it is a dirt road.

An old post I made has a bit more.my tour
