Anyone know how St. Petersburg, Florida got its
name? Surely had some connection to St. Pete's
in Russia but why--where there Russian settlers that chose that name? Being looking for the answer, but nothing so far.

It was named after the Russian city by the railroad magnate, Peter Demens, who grew up in the Russian city and built the Orange Belt Railway connecting Sanford and the American city.
