I was zooming in and out of New York State(Long Island) on Google Earths excellent satellite picture map
and in Suffolk county there is a massive circular roadway easily a mile in diameter Seems to be a large factory complex(chemical plant?) to the south covering several square miles It's a mile South East of Ridge
Can anyone tell us what goes on here? there is a Naval weapons Facility further to the east but on Mapquest this is a Blank area

Hard to be sure, but I think you're looking at Brookhaven National Lab. Is the road next to it marked William Floyd Parkway? If so, then it is, and the circle is the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider.

But what clinched it was the picture of the main building with the tall red and white chimney Which can be clearly seen on the satellite Image and is on the webpage
I thought it was a vehicle test track?
