We're driving from Fairbanks to Anchorage this weekend. Has anyone done this route before? (Rt. 3 to Rt. 1). Are there plenty of gas stations and stuff in the towns we'll be passing? Any tips on places to see in Anchorage?

Thanks Smile

The best guite for Alaska and Western Canada is The Milepost. This is almost a "foot by foot" guide to everything including wide pull-outs (Alaska does not have rest areas), scenic views, graded hills and mountains, sharp curves, as well as all the details about all fuel stops, restaurants and bars along the roads.

We ended up going and had a wonderful time! We did see those celebrations you posted Clare. We stayed right near 5th avenue, where everything seems to be. It was great!
