I find THIS absolutely fascinating.

In my life, I've pretty much been a student of evolution over creation anyway...and this just makes it all even more fascinating.

This has always been a bit of a "what if" for me...I wonder how, in various parts of the world, people look different....Such as...

Why do most oriental cultures have similar features such as slanted eyes and small stature?

Why are most Scandinavian people blonde & blue? (hair & eyes, that is)

Why do most South Amercian & Mexican people have darker skin & eyes....while the same can be said for Eskimos, who live at the North Pole!!??

And, why India, the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Australia produced the majority of blacks and others with very dark skin?

In history class, I was taught that the climate has formed the people over the centuries, such as darker skin evolving in a people in areas where the sun is harsher, etc.

Please do not take this post wrong...I don't have a prejudiced or bigoted bone in my body toward ANY culture or people. I'm just trying to understand lifes beginning...

I'm just trying to figure out how we are all different, and why...and I'm not religious, so I KNOW it was either evolution, or aliens...just wanted to get others' thoughts! Smile

I think that you should send your question(s) to The Science Channel and The History Channel and probably a few others of which you can think. An interesting program may be developed.

Family traits might have far much more too do with facial features of the races.

There is evidence in our DNA as a species that we have been through several 'bottlenecks' not to bore you with the details, you can read it all here: http://mbe.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/17/1/2

Genetic evidence suggests that Human population size fell to about 10,000 adults between 50 and 100 thousand years ago. That means basically we are all products of incest - meaning that specific genetic traits too precedence in specific populations and since mankind was slow to travel across the vast earth, these traits became 'racial'.

Granted now humanity is beginning to blur the lines of these family lines in about another 500 to 1000 years from now we may be hard pressed to find 'races' at least in the form that we know and understand them.

Adaptation to clime and ecology (meaning what folk ate and were able to later plant and grow) may have had some impact on some of the racial tendencies. There was an interesting study back in the early 1980's that strongly suggested that say people of Irish decent got more from food raised in Ireland than anywhere else in the world because in a short span of time (relatively speaking) folk of Ireland adapted chemically to the soils and the foods available.

This is a kind of ground breaking notion, it is significant because it demonstrates that geology itself plays a roll in the adaptation of our species, in this case the soil chemistry played a roll in the Irish ability to absorb and take out nutrients found only in Irish soils.

I highly doubt that aliens or ET presence is needed to explain the races of humans - when we consider Dog - man's faithful companion and all of the breeds that dog comes in - we see purposeful breeding hard at work. A dog is a dog no matter its breed. A human is a human no matter its race.

Giz, The Third Chimpanzee is an excellent book that may answer some of your questions.
