Mentioning this is the Classical Section the other day set me to thinking that I would research the name of the pianist who recorded it in the 60's. In doing so I unearthed a very interesting website featuring the performer who turns out to have been one Al Hazan. Should anyone be interested please have a look here. as I think that it is very well produced!

It's funny to see some of the artists.

Johnny Crawford (Lucas McCain's son on "the Rifleman")

Jimmy Boyd (Better known for "I Saw Mommy Kissin' Santa Claus")

James Darren (Better known for ...something, I'm sure. OK, OK, he was a decent actor, and singer.)

Yvonne DeCarlo (Better known as Lily Munster, but she starred in some major Hollywood films long before that.)

Ah, for the days of the 50s and 60s, when all it took to get a record deal was a part on a TV series...What am I saying? At least then you had to demonstrate some type of talent. Now, the right look gets a recording contract.

How true, DG...
Yes, Jenny, he has been extremely busy. I will show you on Friday how tricky the last part of the 'Nut Rocker' piece is to play. He reckons that he had only half an hour from hearing the piece to laying the actual master track down. If so then he was remarkably quick and talented. Here in the UK he is unknown. How well known is he in the US?

I think I heard or saw his name in the 60s or 70s, but you must remember that I am one who remembers odd, little facts. He certainly was not in any way a big name at any time. Describing him as unknown in the US wouldn't be innaccurate.
