For centuries and even today, when the water freezes over in the area of the Little and Big Diomede Island between Russia and Alaska, people have walked (dog sleded)between the two continents.. It is more than feasable that the Chinese/Russians more in likely did long be Columbus...If you have ever seen true Eskimos, they most certainly have an Oriental facial appearance...

The original inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere came from Asia over what is now the Bering Straits. At one time it was landlocked, making crossing easy. Some of these emigrants stayed in the north, and were the forefathers/mothers of the present day Eskimos. Others continue south, all the way into what is now South America. The racial characteristics of the Asians and Native Americans are quite similar.
When I was in Korea and Japan, I noticed that some of the customs were similar, such as carrying their infants papoose-style.

Looks like this little theory is building up some steam. This is a CNN article about a book coming out on this very subject. It appears to be a pretty intrigueing piece of work.

I've got to add, "so what if they did?" Point being that it is irrelevent who got here befroe Columbus. The civilization that exists here in the new world is a direct result of Columbus' discovery and no others (Aside from any native peoples arguments). So it really doesn't matter if it was Leif Ericsson or the Chinese, they did nothing with their discoveries.
