"Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the pepole can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the coutry to danger. It works the same in every country."

Thank You.
You have made an excellent point of how Saddam has brainwashed his people into thinking they have already been attacked by the west.
I couldn't have found a more relevant quote!! I especially like the mention of denouncing pacifists. Saddam denounces them to the point of torture and murder.
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought the similarities between Saddam and Hitler were uncanny!!
Thanks again for strengthening the case for getting Saddam out of power!!

Was it my imagination, or did the senate unanimously approve of GW Bush's actions today?
That doesn't sound to me like the kind of deception you're quoting.
(Last time I saw, polls showed the US public's support for the war, 73% in fact, and this AFTER the invasion. You'll never hear them demonstrating because they're satisfied with the direction of the country.)
QwertyMac, you are in the minority. Stop acting like you speak for anyone other than yourself!

I'm not sure what this has to do with my post, particularly since the opinion expressed therein, which is the whole of the text of my post, is not mine but of a long-dead war criminal. Furthermore I'm not an actor, and I always speak for myself. I try as much as possible to sign the posts where my personal opinion is expressed; and any assertion to the contrary, such as yours, is delusional.
