I have always imagined the Berlin wall as being one long straight line across Berlin. However, it occurred to me today that it must have been a circle, because if not, East Germans would have been able to get into West Berlin from outside of Berlin. However, I have never heard of a Berlin circle! What exactly was the shape of the Berlin Wall?

Not exactly a circle, but yes, it was an enclosed area... follow the link for a map (the wall is in yellow)
