42 years ago today, in Dallas, Texas, John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Many here were not alive then, and hence do not remember the shock and pain of that day. But I believe it should be mentioned here. When such things are forgotten, their significance is lost.

Thanks, JR. Unfortunately, I remember it too well. It was as if we as a nation lost much of our innocence that day.

Yes, you are right, DG. The US was never the same.

I wasn't alive but I imagine the Watergate scandals were just icing on the cake of disillusionment.

Not really, Sher. Most of us knew that Nixon was a crook, and the smear tactics he used when running for both th e House and later the Senate was as bad as anyone's. RFK's did it for me. That was the final blow for much of the youth.

I just read that CS Lewis died on that day, too.

I guess it's a day that will live in infamy, or else it is infamous. Notorious, too. I wonder if I could top a particular birthday celebration.

I imagine that on any other day, Lewis' death would have drawn some coverage. On that day, people were too numb to notice. And I'm sure you could, VV.

I remember that day well. What a shocker for the nation. I think that is one day when everyone remembers where they were when they heard the news of the Presidents assassination. Sad times.
