Why didn't the Soviets veto the UN's involvement in the Korean War? Weren't they in favor of the North Koreans?

The Soviet Union was not participating in the UN at the time. They were boycotting because the Chinese in the UN represented the government that had been exiled to Taiwan rather than the People's Republic of China (Wikipedia article on the UN and the USSR).
