Ann Coulter in her book "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism" discusses some of the charges Senator Joseph McCarthy made about Communist infiltration within the U.S. government.

So it would seem quite possible that Sen. McCarthy was actually correct in his outspoken positions? That his image as a crazy extremist was the only way he could get his message out?

God help us if the general public ever considers McCarthyism to be "on the money"----again. What about all of the many careers/lives ruined by "suspects" being placed on the infamous black list?

Most of the mainstream media (and their friends on the Left) only focus on the Hollywood blacklists generated during the McCarthy era. Sure, most, if not all, on the Hollywood blacklist were simply not communists, and they especially weren't spies. And anyone falsely accused during that era should have their name cleared. And such “hunts” for spies and other U.S. security risks should be based on science and facts, not rumor and innuendo.

But the media totally (and purposely) ignores the fact that there were communists, and even communist spies within the U.S. government around that time.

When has any of the mainstream media - when discussing the whole McCarthy story - ever mentioned any of the following:

Elizabeth Bentley, Whittaker Chambers, Alger Hiss, Klaus Fuchs, Judith Coplon or, for God’s sake, the Rosenbergs?

The media (and their friends on the Left) simply can’t and won’t face the fact (and the especially won’t tell the whole truth) that many of those trying to warn others that there were communist infiltrators and spies inside the U.S. government were correct!

Anyone who gets their history lessons from the only one half of the story that the media tells, is missing a very important half!

Well, for starters I didn't cite Newsmax for this one. But I freely admit that Newsmax is biased towards the Right (something most on the Left won't admit to when it comes to the biased towards the Left news sources such as: ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, UP, API, ETC.) I never said that the Left leaning news sources outright lied. Just as Newsmax doesn't lie. But each side usually only gives half the story! By checking out both the Left and the Right news sources can you get a more complete picutre of what's going on. But that's not the point.

The point is this:

There were communist spies and infiltrators inside the U.S. government at the very point in time that McCarthy said there were communist spies and infiltrators inside the U.S. government.

That's a fact. Newsmax didn't make up that fact, and the Left leaning media rarely, if ever, reports that fact when they bring up McCarthy's name.

In many ways Joe McCarthy was right. In some ways he was ahead of his time, especially where the Hollywierd crowd is concerned. But much of what we hear about him has always been slanted against him. Now someone is actually putting him in proper perspective rather than trying to paint him up as a mad man on a tirade.

This wasn't the point of McCarthy. There are spies in each others camps all of the time - that's international politics. The CIA/FBI and most other people know that.
McCarthy was about a lust for power and his methods were the spreading of hate and fear through good propaganda. His was a simple message... which appealed to simple minds easily swayed by the fear and hate generated by McCarthy. Hitler did it to greater and more deadly effect before him and others have done it to a lesser extent since... GWB and his band of merry men, for example.
