It has been a "State by State" fight for the right to vote for women prior to 1919.In 1869 the Wyoming territory was first to allow women to vote.Colorado 1893,Utah Idaho 1896,Washington 1910,California 1911,Kansas,Oregon,Arizona 1912.Nevada,Montana 1914,New-Yoyk 1917 ,Michigan,Oklahoma,S.Dakota 1918.

Though the United States Congress did not pass the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, until 1919, many individual states had granted women this right decades earlier
